When IT spend, delivery, and risk do not add up

You may not know the operating cause. You only know the cost keeps rising, commitments keep slipping, or the explanation keeps changing. I find what is actually driving it and show what has to happen next.

When to bring in Plain Ops

  • IT spend keeps rising without clearer output.
  • Delivery misses keep being explained as an IT problem.
  • Audit and customer demands create repeated fire drills.
  • Vendors and leaders change, but the same problems return.
  • A specific body of work needs to reach a board, audit, regulatory, or operating deadline.

The numbers have to explain the decision.

In a prior operating role, I built a dual-site infrastructure case and negotiated a $2.35 million capital package to about $1.1 million, 54 percent below MSRP. The value was not the discount alone. The model connected aging systems, support risk, lifecycle, and capital decisions in one place.

The decision

Is this an IT fix or a business completion problem?

If the fix is known, the owner is clear, and the team has a workable path to finish, keep it with IT.

A different situation arises when the business result depends on decisions and work across IT, finance, vendors, or other teams. A financial-reporting remediation, a transaction transition, or a dated board commitment may need more than another technical assignment. I establish what is actually open, identify the decisions and operating work needed, and can help carry a defined result to completion. Technical, accounting, and audit sign-offs remain with the people authorized to make them.

How I work

I critique the system, not the people.

Your team usually knows where the problems are. I make those problems clear without turning the work into a performance review.

I focus on patterns, handoffs, decisions, and evidence. Findings are not attributed to individuals.
